Killer Duc Jamie! That thing is a monster on the street. I rode my buddys and let him ride the vtr. We were both impressed with each others bikes but quietly i was crapping my self that thing was so nice. Good find bro.

Heh, by the way Jamie, since you don't have twisty roads out there in your neck of the woods, why don't you let me borrow the big duc for a while so I can do a little testing and tell you how it does on the curves. Just a suggestion.

LOL, the race is on. We`ll see who can hold out the longest: Jamie with fixing the cosmetic damage on his new Duc or me with getting my engine rebuilt with my new OS JE pistons. Any wagers? lol

I remember about 10 years ago riding my friends 916 back to back with the superhawk. Other than liking my superhawk's engine better, when I got back on my superhawk it suddenly felt like an older bike...and I love my superhawk. I can only imagine the difference when getting off a 1098...

Having ridden one for a day two summers ago, I can attest that the Duc is simply amazing (in every possible way, especially the brakes!!!!!). Despite its obvious sex appeal, I would not want one as my only motorcycle, its comfort level being too severly compromised for everyday street use IMO. However, as a second bike.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!

oh ****!!! that was the bike i was looking for in february!!!!!! cheap, cosmetically damaged duc that i could fix up! i ended up with my rc51 and i like it but... i'm major jealous!!!!!!!!!! $5k!!!!!!! you got lucky.
if i could come across that deal now i'd keep my hawk, rc and the duc, but my lady might leave!

You know what though. It might not be a bad idea to take the front fairings off, make a temp bracket for the lights and guages, fix the necessities and ride it til you get the money to fix it right. At least you'll get a chance to make sure everything is functioning correctly and you 'll be having fun doing it. I know I wouldn't be able to let it sit for mainly cosmetic reasons and a little wind. It will be interesting to hear your impressions after getting used to it. Have fun!

ducati + termignoni = coffee + cigarettes LOL. yes, definitely keep the termis. open clutch cover (for bling and the glorious signature ducati dry clutch sound), ecu, and quite honestly, you're ready to rock. i couldnt think of anything else i would want to do to a 1098, aside from the full up ohlins treatment :] but then again, i would never be able to afford that on my college budget.

yeah it seems that the ducati guys are a pretty tight knit community...i was cruising ducati.ms for a while when i was thinking about grabbing a duc monster. couldn't help but read along with the superbike discussions of course though :]

Almost there! New clutch is in and things are coming back together. I hope to actually ride it for the first time tomorrow. I still need a fairing support but otherwise I have everything I need to make it roadworthy. It still won't be pretty but I don't care much about that sort of thing.
My kids love that duck song. Anyone with kids under 7yrs can appreciate that sort of thing.

haha dude, thats the sound of a dry clutch, yes a DRY CLUTCH...not quite signature ducati, but when u hear a vtwin with a dry clutch odds are its a ducati. sets it MILES apart from everything else. rc51's get the cam gear whine, not quite as cool as the bolts-n-a-blender though :-\
(gp bikes use dry clutches also btw...)

Oh man, the dry clutch is one of my favorite parts! The clackity-clack while sitting at a light is menacing. Once you pull the lever it turns into a jingle sound. As soon as you start to move there are other sounds that dominate. You gotta love a big twin!

I ride with a couple Duc's in my local group, one in particular (Ely) who has made every ride has a 01 996 and its funny... He had a SV650, then bought the Duc... we met at a car wash one day for a ride, and there where about 10 of us there when he pulled in... Two guys right off the bat said, "that doesn't sound good".... I said, oh yes it does... its supposed to do that...
Bit of a tip... Ely has learned that the dry clutch... (get this) likes to be DRY!!!!!
he doesn't have a garage, and after a week of rain, his clutch was acting up... he had to take it apart and clean it up good.... now he keeps the clutch covered... i think there is a fairing piece that can go over it, which he doesn't have... but I kinda like it being exposed...
