getting engaged, need some creative ways to do it
as the title says, im getting engaged next month, bought the ring last night, luckily i modified the bike over the winter so i was able to justify this expense, lol, but im looking for a creative way to get engaged. were gonna go for dinner at the place we had our first date at. but id like to make it a little creative or something thats just more than the basic standard on one knee thing. so throw some ideas at me guys.
Hey! Do what I did--Let her ask you. That was 40 years ago this month.Really-Just do it from your heart. But if you want a little something you could try this>>>Get a girl you know with really nice cleavage to show up at the resturant, have her come over and say Hi.You introduce her as an old freind and invite her to join you. After some small talk you reach into her cleavage and pull out the ring.Uhh!Never mind you better go with the first idea.Good wishes,it really has been 40 years for me--she is my best freind.
40 years, wow man congrats, thats along time. any secrets to making it last that long?
i like idea number 2, maybe after a couple drinks it could lead to something fun, lol. shes expecting it so i wanna make it something special thatll throw her off.

You're not far from Niagara Falls. There's a really big Ferris wheel there that offers spectacular views. You could take her on a helicopter ride over the Falls.
There's a lot of romantic stuff there. I've never met a guy who talked about a fabulous date saying: "It was so romantic." It's more of a female thing. Just as thinking the Three Stooges are funny is a guy thing. On that note, I'd avoid humour. It would be bad form to pop the question at Ripley's Believe It or Not or in the famous criminals section of the Wax Museum.

Damn those are my favorites though. Lol. Nothings more romantic than al capone standing next to me as I pop the question. Lol. Ferris wheel is a good idea. We've been on it a couple times. Our second date was the first time. I'd like to somehow incorporate the restaurant if I can because its where had our first date. Or maybe do some rose petals in the bathroom with the bath tub full some candles and go from there. Or. And this is one I'm sure all the men can appreciate. I burn a heart into my backyard with gas and a match and pop the question when she sees it. Lol. I know I'd like to do it that way. She might not appreciate the fire. Might do the ferris wheel after dinner I think that could work. Go up as bf gf. Come down engaged. And if she says no I toss her from the top.

I actually had the waiter put it in a martini glass and serve it as desert. The actual case was put into the martini glass and served to her. If you can call ahead to the restaurant, you can probably work this out in advance. Some restaurants will actually give you a better seat and better service for this.
Congratulations Uchi!
I second the "ring as desert" idea. Just don't have it put into food! A chipped tooth is not how you two want to remember the moment.
The Ferris wheel and Helicopter are great ideas as well... assuming neither of you is prone to motion sickness!

thanks for the help guys. ill give the restaurant a call and see what they can do for me. i just dont wanna see the ring get eaten during the desert portion. maybe have it tied to the spoon. at the same time its not a cheap ring so id rather not see it get covered in ice cream. im thinking we'll sit down, have dinner and after dinner ill tell her how she makes me feel and pop it then. but im gonna call ahead for sure to try and get a decent seat.
From the Hallmark store buy a super premium wedding anniversary card.
At dinner, after she opens it and expresses puzzlement, ask for her help in setting and achieving goals. Should she say yes, then the secret signal to the wait staff to bring out roses and the ring would be timed right.
A ride buddy with a camera in the background would be a nice touch. Memories for that upcoming anniversary, don't ya know!

I don't think you need any help at all from us ! Your ideas about the bath & ferris wheel sound great.
Plus my wife always asks me if i thought of the idea or picked out the present. Much more from the heart if it all came from you.
thanks guys. she talks about it and asks me when im gonna ask her so i think no matter what i say its gonna go well
i was at a friends stag tonite and he said he went to vegas with his fiancee and at dinner he just blurted it out. said just to do it when it feels right. so its gonna be with dinner
had to cut it short, she walked into the room as i was typing away and i didnt want her to see this, lol. so yeah im thinking of doing it with dinner, telling her how she makes me feel and then proposing right after dinner. and since she has a really good sense of humor, has to if she puts up with me, im thinking of getting some super cheap earings and giving those to her as our aniiversary gift as a joke and then giving her the ring. that ones jewellery commercial where the guy walks up tot he girl in the house during the storm and gives her a box and its earings and clearly shes disapointed its not a ring but doesnt show it, thats the initial reaction i want from her. and then completely twist her mood around with the ring. thats what im thinking
