This ever happen to you? You start out with the idea of changing the oil and the next thing you know the chain is off, the oil pan is off, the timing cover is off, the valve cover is off..... Why me lord??
What if that noise at 6500 rpm is the front sprocket...???
What if it's the clutch basket...??? I better check the timing in case I made a mistake at the last valve check...
The timing is spot on...I better pull the oil pan, it needs a gasket anyway....
Yep, the tranny is fine, needs a chain and sprockets....

Absolutely. Bought a GSXR600 racebike years ago to do some track days with and get off the street after a terrible accident. Cleaning the wheels snowballed into an every-day, 2 year restoration project and turning it back street legal in the process. Best part was once I was done had no idea what to do with it lol. Put it up for sale that evening and it was sold the next morning.
Actually do it all the time. Just did it yesterday. Had to change two lateral links under my old Toyota (was told one was frozen at the alignment shop-it wasn't). A 30 minute job turned into an all day project to clean and restore the back-half underside off a 300k mile Avalon...
