Engine help needed

Hey guys, I've got a 04 R1. I've had a Full Hindle and a power commander for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Honda cars and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the bike. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.
I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we didn't rev it too high. After running the bike and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the airbox back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. I took it out and rode it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Honda Civics so he doesn't know much about bikes

You need to get more sand. A lot more sand. A few tons of sand. Lay the bike on its side and then cover it up with the sand.

Mix some portland cement with that sand you cover the bike with and let it rain on it. You shouldn't be able to hear any knocking after that. You shouldn't be able to hear the scraping either.

It sounds like you forgot to put sand in the crankcase. You have unbalanced your frictional forces. It won't run with unbalanced friction.

Typical newbie mistake. You didn't disconnect the headers and use an O-pipe:

A lot of precious sand was sacrificed by your tuner buddy's ignorance. So sad.......

There was a thread on sports touring that I read a while ago. It had some great stories there. I think I have it bookmarked at home. I will check when I get home, and try to share. There was some funny stuff there.

Your engine is running rough because you probaby used a coarse grit sand. Repeat the whole process with walnut shells or dry ice. That should smooth everything out. I prefer the dry ice 'cause it makes the exhaust white and billowy.

Just use a **** ton of water to flush it out. Water compresses way better than sand.

After that add sugar to the fuel and that will glaze everything inside just right . 4 teaspoons of sugar per litre will get the desired result and it will go just about as fast as the yellow ones after that !

If none of those suggestions work then your only other option is to sell it on Flebay!
