Looking at the second pic some more, the guy could have climbed on top of the left side of the bike (like people do when an ocean liner starts going down) and "rode" it out!

Last Sept. I rode out to NC and during my trip I went down the Dragon. There was a bike rally in Cherokee so the day I showed up at Deal's Gap there was about 300 cruisers there so I knew it would be a waste of time but I rode it anyway.
It was a parade of cruisers going up and down the Dragon at about 25 mph. It looked odd to see 10 foot long choppers with ape hangers on a twisty rode.

I hope my timing is better the next time I am out there.
