I didn't write this thread but do know the people involved, so I thought I would post it up here to see if anyone might be able to help out. It is truely a sad situation.

A close friend of my wife was killed last week in a car crash, when she was struck head-on by an apparently drunk or drugged-out man - he was driving a large van at over 100 mph, and she was driving a small economy car, so she lost and was killed instantly. http://www.modbee.com/1618/story/154628.html It was apparently an exceptionally grim scene.

Unfortunately she left behind two minor children along with an older boy who is autistic and unable to care for himself. She had minimal life insurance and no assets, and while I can take care of the immediate costs for the coroner and the cremation, the children will need financial support while we work out who will take responsibility for them. If you're willing to donate some money to help her orphaned children, any amount would be appreciated, the details are below - my wife is organizing the effort, and I promise that all funds will be used to the benefit of her friend's children.

Holy crap. That is a sad story to read. Strange thing is, I'm here in Modesto now (visiting in-laws).
