I used to skate. I still have a hook-ups board and indie trucks but no wheels. I lent them to my nephew. on that happy day that my wife and I finally purchase our first house, I've told her that one of my first projects will be building a miniramp in the backyard. I rode street and miniramp. not much vert.

Starting in the mid 1950s we'd take an old clamp-on steel wheeled skate and nail it to a 2 x 4, just like in "Back to the Future". Didn't start doing kick turns until the mid '60s on clay wheels.
I haven't skateboarded now in over 20 years, but I still surf on a shortboard, as well as longboards.
Have fun with your halfpipe.

never really got into skateboarding rollerskated on quads for a couple of years but now into kiteboarding . currently riding a full carbon skimboard and wishing i had skateboarded might help me with my pop shove-its . but loving riding waves with slack lines

Where I grew up, "skating" had to wait until the lakes froze.
I think you're talking about this;

Which was a blatant (but OK) rip-off of this;

I skated ramp in my teens, ever heard of the Cedarcrest ramp in VA.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo-L4Elh7qk
It was the first steel sheeted skate ramp I am aware if in the US. Soooo fast. After it closed there just seemed to be no point in continuing, then it was off to bicycles and motorcycles with me.

Before my neighbor moved away for work, we were dead set on cutting part of our fence down and having the half pipe go between both of our back yards.
Thats about what i do anymore. After having back surgery and jacking myself up enough to have to go have steriod shots in my back on 2 seperate skating incidents in the same summer, ive learned to slow it down a little. Im trying to talk my wife into a trip to Branson or somewhere in colorado to get back on a snowboard. that is a hell of a fun time!
Holy $%&#!!! That ramp is NUTS!
Any of you guys read Tony Hawk: occupation skateboarder? It was a fun read. Defiantely worth checking out. i just finsihed reading it for the 3rd time lol.
