toy4xchris 11-17-2009 09:06 PM

I used to skate before I shattered my heel bone and ankle a year ago still got the board though. element, fury truks spitfire wheels and reds bearings

gboezio 11-18-2009 02:39 AM

I did skate, big ramp style, street was a bone killer for me. Now I'm snowboarding a bit in the winter, but my preferred toys have engine now lol

I used to skate. I still have a hook-ups board and indie trucks but no wheels. I lent them to my nephew. on that happy day that my wife and I finally purchase our first house, I've told her that one of my first projects will be building a miniramp in the backyard. I rode street and miniramp. not much vert.

Mike996 11-18-2009 03:02 PM

I have my wife talked into letting me build a little half pipe, but thats after i build her an overhang for our patio..... thats if i can stop spending money on our bikes!

Gregw 11-18-2009 07:14 PM

What if you made the overhang in the shape of a half-pipe?

VTRsurfer 11-18-2009 07:48 PM

Starting in the mid 1950s we'd take an old clamp-on steel wheeled skate and nail it to a 2 x 4, just like in "Back to the Future". Didn't start doing kick turns until the mid '60s on clay wheels.

I haven't skateboarded now in over 20 years, but I still surf on a shortboard, as well as longboards.

Have fun with your halfpipe.:D

strez 11-18-2009 10:10 PM

never really got into skateboarding rollerskated on quads for a couple of years but now into kiteboarding . currently riding a full carbon skimboard and wishing i had skateboarded might help me with my pop shove-its . but loving riding waves with slack lines:D

finepooch 11-19-2009 05:02 PM

oh man, you're bringing back memories. 80s. i just fired up "pipeline" on youtube!!! we had a half pipe, wasn't much but we sure had fun. street came later but i never took to it, i was into vert. i still have my grosso(i think) boad. my 5 year old loves it! awesome!!! i remember doing a demo with jason jesse.

cabalero was my all time fav.

i skate on ice too - hockey.

Moto Man 11-19-2009 05:22 PM

Still got my old Santa Cruz deck with Inde trucks. I'm mostly just a street cruiser guy having fun with my son on his deck and rip stick. We both snowboard too.

Where I grew up, "skating" had to wait until the lakes froze.

I think you're talking about this;

Which was a blatant (but OK) rip-off of this;

Mike996 11-21-2009 08:45 PM

Nope... not even a little bit close... Although i grew up in ohio and did ice skate.....

Try this instead....

Thank you RK, you did just remind me to add a record player to my Xmas list. I'm collecting records, but haven't got a player yet.

I skated ramp in my teens, ever heard of the Cedarcrest ramp in VA.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo-L4Elh7qk

It was the first steel sheeted skate ramp I am aware if in the US. Soooo fast. After it closed there just seemed to be no point in continuing, then it was off to bicycles and motorcycles with me.

Before my neighbor moved away for work, we were dead set on cutting part of our fence down and having the half pipe go between both of our back yards. :eek:

Thats about what i do anymore. After having back surgery and jacking myself up enough to have to go have steriod shots in my back on 2 seperate skating incidents in the same summer, ive learned to slow it down a little. Im trying to talk my wife into a trip to Branson or somewhere in colorado to get back on a snowboard. that is a hell of a fun time!
