"Cadillac Records" Great Film

My wife and I saw "Cadillac Records" today. What a great movie, at least if you love The Blues as much as I do. Most of it was factual, and I thought the screenplay was fine, unlike some of the critics (maybe they aren't Blues fans).

The cast was incredible. I read that Jeffrey Wright, as Muddy Waters, did his own guitar playing. Beyonce, as Etta James (who my wife and I saw at a small venue when we were dating 15 years ago) and Eamonn Walker, as Howlin' Wolf, even did their own vocals. And Mos Def was very convincing as Chuck Berry. The film doesn't pull any punches, showing how tough it was for blacks in Chicago in the 50's, and for whites who entered their world.

This is a MUST SEE for anyone who likes Blues music.

And I got the senior discount!

I can't find it in the Bible, but I'm pretty sure God spent most of the 8th day inventing the electric guitar, the saxophone and the harmonica.

Mess of Blues. Delbert McClinton's is best, but I can't find it. Have to settle for Elvis.

Can't finish a modern blues thread without some Robert Cray/. Etta James and Kieth Richards bonus. I think the guy with the sidebuns is Chuck Berry.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI98xPkLNVU

I'm going to bed now.

So subscribed to. Best concert I have been to was last year - Etta James, Al Green, then BB King.

I will check out all of those links out, later tonight.

RK1, I never got to see Stevie Ray, but I've seen BB 3 times, saw Paul Buterfield 6 months before he died, in '86 I believe, and Albert King less than a year before he left us. My first Blues album purchase was the 1st Paul Butterfield Blues Band album, featuring Sam Lay, in 1966. I've still got it, with no scratches.

VTRsurfer;

I never saw SRV either. Saw most of the really good blues players mostly a long time ago.

Saw BB King at the Fillmore East, most of the rest in little clubs. Sounds like you're taking good care of that album. All my vinyl got stolen in the '80s.
