Looking for a good used steering stem/lower triple off a RC51 SP-1, 954 or 929 to complete a puzzle I'm working on.

I'd like to buy one outright, but I have an RC51 SP-2 steering stem/lower triple and would be interested in a trade too

I take it that the SP-2 doesn't work in the conversion?

 

According to everything I've read and heard it wont cuz they increased the stem diameter (part that goes through frame) on the RC51 SP-2s However, I haven't torn it down yet cuz waiting on some parts and I'm riding it today

I talked to a local shop who has done stem press-outs and replacement press-ins in the past, but they wont do them anymore due to liability

 

Checked it for myself tonight and it wont work and FYI SP-2 top triple (Handlebar Bridge) wont fit well either cuz the stem hole diameter is so much larger than than stock it would allow too much room for play...

to summarize RC51 SP-2 triple will not work in fork conversion on a VTR

Anybody wanna trade sp-2 triple tree for sp-1? c'mon you know you do!

 

do you or anyone else happen to have a steering stem? i have a feeling mine is toast after 50 mph full stop into the back of a van....
