wtb later model coolant temp sender

i need a coolant temp sender from a newer model hawk (the smaller sensor on the tstat housing) its gotta work for the newer guage cluster...

Anthony, is the sender different for 1st & 2nd gen? Asking because I swapped a new motor into the old bike and everything hooked up. Wonering if its different.

Yes, it is. They have the same part number but send different signals. Yruyur and I found that out when we upgraded his bike to the newer cluster.

If its the same part number how can I track down the correct unit? Like I said I have an 05 motor in a 98 bike. Can I ron ayers it?

The temp sensor is the same the sender is different it looks the same different signal... there are 2a part numbers 37750-pc1-004 for earlier and 37750-kv3-951 for the later the earlier will read higher on newer cluster and newer one will read lower on older cluster...

It's in the thermostat housing (not directly attached to the motor), so it depends on whether or not you switched the thermostat out when you did your motor swap.

Ahh ok, I made this mistake before. So the sending unit has to be mated to the dash; if I have the old sender and old dash everything should be normal.

So maniac, I woulda done the swap but it wont work
