Seeing as how there seems to be some enthusiasm for the filter-in-lid mod, I though I would offer up a K&N filter element removed from a VTR K&N filter (have it laying around). The element is in great shape (bought it second-hand, can't recall if it was new or not, sorry, but it's mint). Yours for $15 (plus shipping, which should be very cheap as it can go in a padded envelope).

Your FIL is waiting.......
