SOLD: The dreaded, evil K&N, Dyna Jet

Sold.......... to "dark" forum member.

Is there anyone "dark" enough to accept?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121619135860...#ht_142wt_1362

How about $30 shipped for anybody here? I have no idea what this is worth so let me know if any of you think I am high or low. Open to suggestions here and not "sensative".

Link works for me. I don't think anyone has done this with any overall benefit but would like to hear if they have.

The common consensus is that a K&N is not helpful to this bike regardless of jetting.

Hangfly were you running this setup?

I did not run this , but this was what was in the bike when I recently bought it.
I removed and restored per the recomended carb set up stickey by 8541Hawk (hat tip).
There is a disclaimer of sorts in the Ebay auction. The title to this classified is also in reference to popular opinion. But some may want to have a crack at it. Should I toss this stuff and save someone the grief? Ok I'll lower the price. Now $30.

If you'll do it for $20 shipped, I'll take it.

Do they have horseless carriages or flying machines in Wisconsin to get it there ?

I would love to see what this actually does. Probly a ton of guys out there that would buy it, just not if they are on the forum.

I would be curious to see what it does to the rideability.

I think I have a DJ kit in mine. Been a long time since I messed with jetting, but it works pretty well. I can't remember the settings I used or the jet sizes.
I also have a Flo-Commander, which I use to compensate for seasonal and altitude changes and it seems to be effective for that.
I also have a K&N that came with a spare airbox I bought years ago. Put it in and couldn't get it back out fast enough.

Buying it for the FIL mod. I have two guys from the forum, a buddy and another guy locally who races his Superhawk here that wants the FIL mod. So, I've been busy making the lids for them.

Thanks Hangfly!

While waiting for Killer to answer. I installed a FC some months ago and I have been happy with the results. A lot of my seat time is spent at above 5K ft. elevation and wanted to try something other than opening up the carbs and permanently jet for this elevation.
The FC has sharpened the throttle response off idle and in the mid range. I experimented with the full range of adjustment and found that at close to or at full rich position it seemed to load the plugs, (I think) and had quite a hiccup at about 7K rpm. Also smelled like it was running rich.
Overall I feel it was money well spent and would recommend the FC as a worthy mod. As always YMMV.

I recently installed a Flo-Commander as well. It really helps tuning the FIL mod. I'm at 205F & 210R mains and the Flo-Commander really helped dial in the top end. I was so impressed at what this did, I want to get another one for the pilot circuit. Micky (mikstr) has a Flo-Commander for both main and pilot circuit and loves it.

Smokin', read about how it works and buy one at Flo-Commander by Performance Design They are $159.95 and worth the money.

I agree with what the others have said about the FC. It is another tool in the tuning arsenal and can be used to fine tune jetting and compensate for changes in atmospheric conditions.
It is not a substitute for proper jetting, however.

I shipped the parts in a nice padded USPS envelope yesterday for $12, which nets me $8. Yeehaa!
Hope you can put the parts to use Mat.

Thanks guys for the words on the flow commander.

I don't ride at any altitude, mostly sea level so will I still see a benefit? I know what the site says but prefer the hands on advice of guys who use it.

I am pretty sure my bike has this kit. It has the K&N. Are the rubber blocks to blank off the valve cover vents to the air box part of the kit?

Had one for about five years and they add to fine tuning after all the other items of a tune up have been completed. Mine is positioned so that it can be adjusted from the outside of the air box. Combined with a TPS adjustment, re-jet and a four degree advancer you get very good low end tractability. If you commute in heavy traffic, you'll appreciate the smoothness off the line.

I saw your PM before I saw this post. Now I kind of feel bad.

The Flo-Commander ties the two main air circuits together and allows you to make adjustments with an externally accessible screw. It allows you to make adjustments for different atmospheric conditions and temperatures, so the benefits should still be there even though you ride at sea level.
Like I said before, it's not a substitute for proper jetting, but it is another tool in your tuning arsenal and you don't have to pull the carbs to use it.
