so on the corbin seat how much material does the strap screws have depth wise, could you use longer screws? Because I could probably modify the mounting holes to fit. I may also look into making one that still uses the seat cowl underneath, but it may be too much work to make it happen I will try and figure out a way though. The sargent seat would require that I make the very end mount different as I believe it is much thicker on the back edge.

Doesn't the end mount fit just like the solo cowl? And if so shouldn't it be the same?

actually, you may be right, I hadn't thought about the cowl end fitting so it should slip over because yes it is mounted just like the cowl in the back. I would still want to test it out before making any claims that it would fit though.

It's a really cool piece you have there. While it would be cool to make it work with the solo cowl honestly with the tiny gap between the solo cowl and the tail it just seems like way more trouble than it's worth. May require you to mod the cowl, etc, etc...

Thanks for the heads up. I thought there might be an issue. Just so I understand though, you are saying it will def. work just after some minor modification? sounds simple enough!

From the looks of things the only difference is where those bolts are, so as long as you can find a way to securely mount two new bolts facing out/down from the seat pan you should be good to go. Just compare the bottom of yours to the pics of the stocker and you'll see the difference.

Corn:

The Corbin seat screws are 3/8", threaded portion, and the screws thread into a steel insert. The screws could possible be longer and if not, there is certainly enough room underneath the seat.

so then what is the distance from hole to hole, on my rack they are shown in the drawing, I could make something different but would need these to measurements in order to make it. red is the overal profile of the back seat

Hole to hole is 8 1/8". Front to back is approximately 10 3/4". I will get an actual front to back measurement tomorrow morning, but this will give you a good idea.

Great idea, good look and a f*cking steal at $50. Good job. Call China and start shipping them by the thousands.

probably not... well anything is possible but the cowl limits the space needed to fit the rack under the seat alot. I have also seen some cowls fit nearly snug to the tail, while mine for instance sits with 3/16 gap all the way, so the cowl would have to be clearanced most likely making it impossible to make for me unless I have your bike here to custom make a rack/seat/cowl combo that would only work with your bike. Otherwise without the cowl it would be pretty easy for me make a rack for your bike.

a few pictures of the seat with the cowl, and then a few with it on the bike so I can see how much gap there is between the cowl and tail bodywork, I need at least and 1/8 in if not more, for me to even be able to think its possible. I may throw it down on Solid works so I can see if I can model it in 3d.

heres a shot of the original, I will bring my cowl in tomorrow and create that in 3d than I will make a "dummy seat" put everything together and figure out if it can be done.

I have tried to figure out a good way to make it work but in the end I don't think its time effective or nearly as strong/ useful if I have to avoid the cowl. I am sorry Reaper

Anyways BlueStreak sent me a couple of great photos of the rack I sold him I thought I would post up for you all.

Hi Andrew;

My rack's been excellent, pretty much always under my tailbag. If I were to go to a Sargent Seat in the fall, can you help me modify the rack to fit?

Thanks,
Scott

Unhappy Rack for sale

Just replaced my stock seat with a Sargent. New seat is great, but sadly, Andrew's beautiful little aluminum tail rack won't fit it and is not easily alterable to fit. I've gotta sell it. It's only 4 months old and in prime condition. Is excellent at protecting the paint on your seat cowl. Send me an e-mail if you're interested.

if I ever get my hands on a sargent seat, bluestreak you wil be the first one to get one.

Also if anyone in my area has a sargent seat I will build you a free rack in exchange for time with the seat so I can make a template and check that it will fit. Thanks.

Just to confirm what I think I read, one of your racks fit on a Corbin seat with only a little longer screw in the mounts?

You are still making these right?
