CBX Project help reqd

Hi, I am in the process of upgrading a 1979 CBX for more competitive racing, and have hit the limit on the tires and front end. I have to maintain the triple clamp which I can machine out to accept 41mm forks. Looking for a complete front end and a rear wheel from a super hawk to transform the bike. I enclose a picture of me at a track day, notice the front 35mm front forks and the skinny tires...!

Please email me if you have parts, I would hate to buy a complete bike and part it out. History of this race bike is that it's name is 'Sweepings' being that it was put together by collecting all of the sweepings in my garage after many restorations of stock CBX's. My email is mrcbx@@att.net (remove one @).Thanks, Jan

Wonder if Honda ever intended the Superhawk front end to be an upgrade for something else???

Upgrade?

You DID see the forks in the picture, right?? From 35mm to 41 mm, yes that should be an upgrade. Might have to put in some heavier springs to lug that 480 lbs bike around...

I was thinking of the fact that you won't have compression adjustment... Have you considered a CBR fork?

Neat bike! Something different to race with. I like it. But I have to ask, what is with the aluminum cooking pan people use to cook turkey's with as a skid plate? At least, that's what it looks like.

EDIT: Is it being used as a track diaper?

It's to make a buzzing sound that will intimidate the competition.

That's the bottom of the motor and a water or oil line; though, I am adding a turkey pan to my mod list.

How 'bout that 6-into-6 exhaust?

Yup it is a track requirement, must have oil containment. So turkey basting tray with engine diaper is indeed the easiest solution. Have more professional tray there now.

The 6 inot 6 is made by a company called Pipemasters in Australia. Stainless steel and removes all chances of 'stealth mode'...

Its great how the good ol boys in vintage let you turkey pan it.

In CCS they outlawed the beloved turkey pan. Great bike though. Where are you racing it?
