It's the lightest, easiest handling chassis and the newer ones don't have the low-end grunt that the K5 has, according the all the reviews I have seen.

yup, in 07 the gsxr1000 gained a lot of weight.
yes, the bike is in great condition and i would sell it to my best friend.
i've done a lot of fussy little mods to it too.
i had many gsxrs and i'm sad to say good bye.
i've got a hawk, the gixxer and just bought my rc51. something's got to give.

interesting... you'd think that each year the bikes would get progressively lighter, faster, better. I wonder why the engineers flip flop with designs like this. they do it with cars and trucks too. makes no sense to me.

they had more strict emissions regulations to hit so the bike gained some weight mainly due to exhaust systems.
i sold the bike this afternoon. i am very sad to see the end of a 12 year run of gixxers.
