Burned by Circuit Burner
On November 9, 2010 I paid Circuit Burner $190 via PayPal for a regulator/rectifier for my 2001 VTR1000F. The last communication I had from him was on December 13, 2010. He said then that he was waiting for one more part to complete an improved version of his reg/rec. I’ve heard nothing from him since.
Another member of this forum was kind enough to speak with him by telephone on February 10, 2011. That member advised me that Circuit Burner (Russ Reed) told him that he would contact me. That didn’t happen. I’ve attempted to contact Circuit Burner via PM’s and emails but to no avail.
I want my money back.

I haven't tried that yet.
The money is important to me but the bigger issue right now is to notify other members of this forum to protect themselves if they're considering getting a reg/rec from Circuit Burner. He's a very bright man and he made some very valuable contributions to this forum. Feedback on him as a seller was limited but positive. He was exceptionally patient and thorough when he responded to the many questions I raised before ordering a reg/rec from him. His behaviour is very much at odds with what I had expected.
I'll check the PayPal rules and regulations in a couple of days.

My understanding is that you have 45 days to lodge a claim with Paypal.
Iv bought things & paid with Paypal, & on about 5 occasions had problems with the sellers, Paypal have always backed me & refunded all my money promptly.

You're absolutely right. The dispute has to be made within 45 days of the day on which the buyer made the payment. I'm out of time.
I've reported the problem to PayPal. Perhaps the next time Mr. Reed tries to sell something using PayPal, he will become aware of the problem and do what is right.

My actions might prove a little more severe. He owes me an R/R as well. I have an address, phone number and email address. If I do not receive contact from him soon, I will be contacting his local authorities to ask them to visit him for me.

I was asked by a moderator to update this thread.
Circuit Burner never communicated with me after I posted "Burned by Circuit Burner". He never refunded the $190.00 US that I had paid him nor did he send me a reg/rec. He never provided an explanation nor an apology. I was very surprised by his conduct and I realized too late that I had been scammed. The good news is that I learned to be more careful with internet transactions, my spouse was sympathetic and I ended up installing a MOSFET reg/rec that is superior to the product Circuit Burner was selling.

I've tried multiple times to contact Mr. Russ Reed to no avail. His R/R burnt up, I sent it back for the promised LIFETIME WARRANTY, and that is when he disappeared.
If I can find more info about him, I will post it.
