Wiring Question for R/R?

Well i purchased an 06 R6 Regulator for the hawk. Problem is it has 6 pins. No biggie right? So I went ahead and downloaded the service manual for an 06 R6 and it shows the regulator pins in the following sequence.

__ --__
B, - , R
W,W,W

With the top being where the -- is.

Now viewing this reference: http://vtr1000f.wickidnet.com/ it shows that the B (being ground) is on the right side and R (Power) is on the left. (reverse of what my diagram shows.)

So.. should i go with the wiring diagram?? or the way everyone else has theres wired? Obviously i shouldnt wire up power to ground but i dont know what to do to get this puppy up and charging.

thanks

Are you looking into the wiring harness plug, or looking into the R/R... as that will swap those in relation to each other.

I am unsure what you are asking. The diagram show the plug for the R/R. But that would correspond exactly with the plug on the R/R harness correct?.. so it obviously wouldnt swap in relation to each other...?

Hold plug in hand, look at wires coming out of plug, or look at plug end going into R/R... Compare to description, think, blush and start over... Sorry, couldn't help myself...

Wow... I had an AMAZING comback for this but you are right....

I just had to draw it out on a piece of paper to figure it out.. U see i dont have a harness for an R6 so looking a the diagram i thought i was looking at the input for the R/R.

Kinda wish i was right on this one but...hey...everyone has a lapse right?

Don't worry... I had a few choiche words with myself a couple of years back when I did the swap... I had the exact same problems visualising it, and I ended up having to cut of the connector and re-do it... That's kinda why I couldn't help poking fun at you... I've been there... And you are decidedly smarter than me, for asking questions instead of doing the work twice...

BTW, out of curiosity, what was the comback? (Yeah, yeah... I'm curious, and no it hasn't gotten me killed yet, I'm not a cat...)

Haha.. Well started it up. Charging like a champ!

Well my comback basically involved myself writing a long winded message about connecting 2 wires together..then as the bolt of lightning struck I proceeded to crumple up my drawing.. throwing it at my wife and slapping my dog around a little.. lol

So just to clarify, you ended up wiring it up (oriented as if your drawing is the rectifier) positive top left nothing top middle ground top right and the three stator wires on the bottom? The spare R/R I just got is an 08-09 r6 model and is also six pins

Best way to avoid confusion... (I think?)

Green is ground, red is power... The yellow one's are universal...

Yeah that's what I was trying to describe. It just feels wrong to have that middle terminal open. What is it actually for?

It's for one of the computer brains of the newer fuel injected bikes... Apparently they need their own dedicated powerline... It makes no difference to the operation of the R/R as far as I could tell, voltages stay the same...
