surging at idle

Ok, before I take this to a "mechanic" of any sort, I figured I'd try to use the best resource available to me, this bulletin board.

My SH, a 2000 with about 17K on it, is surging. Steady idle around 1100 RPM, then it drops to about 900, then back to 1100-1200. Might steady out for a 30-60 seconds then does it. Seems random, not rhythmical.

I put Seafoam in this last tank to see if something had gummed up a carb, no noticeable difference.

All stock, no pair mod, no K&N, Jardine High mounts.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Erik

Start with the basics, and do a carb synch, and check the mixtures and idle speed. Worth looking at your plugs and airfilter too.

I have found my VTR to be quite touchy when it come to the carb synch and so on. It needs to be right more so than other engines I have worked on. So this is always a good place to start.
