superhawk to rc51

does anyone know how many things are interchangeable on the superhawk and the rc51. i've been told the superhawk was the basis for the rc51, if so, than you must be able to bring the track tech. to the superhawk......right???

yes, a very simply swap for some really critical elements. the gasoline for instance can be changed directly from one bike to the other - I would imagine the same for the oil

I don't believe very many parts are interchangeable from bike to bike. Some here have made a front end, brake, wheel swap with reasonable effort, but not much else without getting creative.

The SH was not the basis for the RC51 - a V-twin for superbike racing was the basis for the RC51 and I don't believe there was any cross over in development. One was clearly for street use and the other targeted for racing effort with compliance with rules requiring derivation from a production based machine. They aren't mere tweaks to a common theme. The differences come through in practical use as a road bike as well - at least to me.

I read somewhere that there are 4 common parts between the bikes and they are all internal engine components.

I think they have the same brake and clutch levers too.

No they don't. Front sprocket and exhaust gaskets are the same, levers are different, interchangable with the 929 and 954 I think.

They both share the name "honda". Are you seeing a common thread here?
