stupid screw in fairing

stupid screw in fairing
i hate that stupid, hard to operate screw inside the fairing inner, just in front of the rads. it goes inside a long neck. you have to contort yourself like you're doing yoga to get at it, reaching up through the forks. you have to hope it's all lined up and catches.
honda is so thoughtful to force us to remove the fairing to get at the coolant cap.
i hate that screw.

Use a medium length phillips with the forks turned the opposite direction of the side you're removing.
It's only 4 bolts, 4 acorn nuts, two plastic retainers, and two electrical connectors to take the entire fairing off in one whole assembly. Gotta make sure and spread it to clear the brackets though.

I dont. I dont think Im missing any parts. Reach into the fairing next to the right fork with the bars turned left, and turn the cap off.
It rubs the fairing slightly, but its not very hard.
Then use a small funnel and hose to fill. Makes it a 3 minute job.

I gave up parting the fairing long time ago... It comes of in one piece so easily it's feels stupid to try to wrestle with those nuts... Especially considering my hands doesn't fit in there very well...

most of the bolts and screws are easy, it's just that one inside the fairing. my life that thing is terrible.
i also don't like the phillips plastic rivet type fasteners either.
i have to give credit to suzuki for making bikes that are easy to work on.

well, if you have a lower, it will have to come off.
But the upper fairing doesnt, at least not on any of the 8 or so Ive worked on. Maybe on a california model theres more stuff in the way. Ive only seen the 49 state version.
