Stock or Dynojet?

Can anyone identify this needle. Ive got 2 sets of carbs. They both appear to have the same needles an springs in them.

One set supposedly has a dynojet kit installed.

main jets in one carb are 180 and 185. Im guessing thats stock

Other carb jets are 190 and 195

Actually, what you are showing is the unimportant end for this particular question.

The most notable difference between a stock and DynoJet needle is that the DJ needle has grooves in the end (opposite end of what you're showing, so the part inside the slide) and the stock ones do not.

Remove the needle(s) from the slides and you will see what i'm talking about.

To remove a needle from a slide take one of the (M4) screws that was holding that slide cover on and thread it into the end of the slide retainer (opposite end of what you're showing in the pics) and CAREFULLY pull it out. There are (should be) small washers in there that you want to re-install in the same order.

Post Pic' of DynoJet carb kit

Here's a pic of my DynoJet kit that I uninstalled from my VTR 996. At the top, you see where the E'clip mounts into one of the "grooves".

ok I got ya. The stock ones are shim adjusted and the dynojet ones are groove clip adjusted.

Thanks thanks.

Anyone know the sock jet size and dynojet jet sizes off the top of their head?

Post Stock jet info chart

Here's a screenshot of the stock info for the carbs from the official Honda shop manual.
As far as I know the jet sizes work their way up in incriments of of 5 (Don't know anything about the carb jet unit system stuff). So with the DynoJet kit, one would have a set of jets going from 175, 180, 185, 190, and 195 I think.
Also note, per the stock parts chart here - there are specific front and rear needles when reassmebling.

wow alright so Ive got bigger jets in both carbs.

That helps cause I wont have to buy too many different jets from Honda to tune the bike correctly.

High rise airbox, port and polish, and 2-1 exhaust might be a tad tricky to tune.

We shall see.

Thanks for the help so far.

I'm having a hell of a time with my 2-1 exhaust tune. It came with 195-200s but ran like shyte. I'm down to 190 195 but still isn't right. I just got a k&n which flows MUCH better than the uni so I'm back to square one. Good luck.
