So I installed some Goodridge steel-braided brake lines on the front....used their new banjo bolt on the master, and reused the stock banjo bolts at the calipers because they appeared to have larger openings than the supplied bolts.

Bled the crap out of them and I've got fair lever feel, much firmer than before...but it's a little inconsistent. Some grabs are hard, some grabs are soft. I must've used 16 oz of brake fluid bleeding them....I'm going to go back at it today after it's been ridden and then sit overnight, to see if anything's changed.

Any tips? Could it have anything to do with using the old banjos?

 

Brooks, there was a post about getting the air out of the top of the lines very recently. IIRC you loosen the top banjos and get the air out of the top of the line by pulling the lever. Just like bleeding the bottoms - just makes a bigger mess. If there's air all the way back in the plunger this is the only way to get it out.
