Stator replacement

I've decided that the annoying explosions in my heads are being set off by a faulty stator. I'm not really sure that this conclusion is correct but it's my current hypothesis and I'm gonna test it. I saw a cheep used one on ebay a few weeks ago but hadn't decided that the stator was the problem for sure and let someone else outbid me for 15 dollars. Anyways now I can't find one for cheap so I started trying to find other models that fit. none are an exact part number match. I did find an after market stator that said it fit and also fit the RC51. So now I'm thinking about getting one for an rc51.

check for continuity between each wire terminal of the alternator side connector and ground.
there should not be continuity.
measure the resistance between the yellow wires - 0.2-0.5 ohm is ok.
start the engine and measure the voltage at the 3p terminal - should be the same to each wire.
.

Well the alternator was the source for the spark, it has a big burnt spot where there is no coating on the windings, unfortunately I discovered the stator I bought doesn't fit. Doh! I bought one for a vfr800 wait that's not on the list.
