starting issues
yes sir, this is the reason i love this site, all you guys are great! I realized that when i went back out to try it again, no over flow this trip, now its just time to burn all the crap thats in the carbs, I appreciate all your help guys, if you are ever in north west arkansas, and want some nice roads, and fresh coffee and donuts, just hit me up, i'll buy the coffee an donuts and show off some of our beatiful roads around here. I'll be in touch I'm sure, thanks again and enjoy yourselves out there.
Still having free flow issues when bike is running, fuel just runs out the hose hanging out from bottom of the bike, I believe it's the hose from the left side of petcock.
Try opening your tank? Sometimes heat or other pressure build up in the tank and push some fuel out.
The petcock doesn't necessarily shut off until fuel stops flowing. It's designed activate with a vacuum and then fill the carbs and shut off once the lines are full. So once you apply vacuum to it, the gasket will often (not always) stay open until the lines are plugged- either by you or the floats filling up and plugging the fuel flow to the carbs. At least this is how it has happened to some members. Once it stops, you have to activate it with a vacuum again.
I don't know if this is helping or not, but are all of your lines hooked up- fuel to the carbs, petcock vacuum to the rear cylinder?
EDIT: ok i just read your last post, fuel flowing out when bike is running. So that voids everything I just said

Okay, well just recycled my 3rd tank of fuel /seafoam mix through my system, fuel still runs out hose while bike is running, any ideas? It's starting to run a lil better, starts right up, idles just fine, temp was slowly rising just about 150° still had smoke but I'm guessing that's the seafoam,
As a sidenote, this was not the best time to run seafoam in the bike, what with the carb issues and all. It really just throws another variable in the mix.
Recheck that the lines are all pushed all the way on. Of course open the tank in case there is pressure but thats not it.
What have you done to the carbs? Are the drains open? That is almost what it sounds like. Or the bowls arent tight.

Sounds like a stuck float. Try putting the handle of a screw driver on each carb bowl and tap lightly with a hammer.
I would call it a carb problem now and not a petcock problem. Try tapping it with a screw driver and spraying some carb cleaner in them while they are running.

Have you removed plugs and checked for spark? Just a thought since you believe you have fuel. Not sure how you can spray carb cleaner into carbs without the airbox off at least.
Fuel spilling is not a good thing. You need to locate where its coming from, rumor has it that stuff is pretty volatile.

Just to recap...
Bike is running.
Still smokes.
Fuel is running out the overflow.
The smoking is no doubt caused by the Seafoam. It will stop when you get straight gas in the tank.
The fuel only runs out the overflow when the bike is running so this means that the petcock is OK and performing as advertised. It sounds (like aja mentioned) that you have a stuck float that is allowing the fuel to dump into the carbuerator whenever the bike is running. Pull the carbs to have a look at the floats.

The service manual gas very detailed disassembly, cleaning, and re assembly instructions for the carbs.
I only suggest spraying carb cleaner into the carbs (yes the air box lid and filter need to come off) as it could work the float loose, telling you if that's the problem or not. Tearing them down and cleaning would be more thorough if you aren't afraid to do it though

air box is already off, not a problem, I''ve done carbs before, its just been a while, was just trying every easy route first, but yea, I've finally got a week end off so I have all day tommarrow to do them, if any of you guys will be on I bet I will need some kind of advice, lol, I have the download of the manuel on my laptop so I will have it out in the shop with me, I'm hoping it'll be an easy job, hope ta see some of you in the morning
If this is true, that is the problem. One large hose from the petcock goes to one carb and the other goes to the other carb. The hoses from the petcock shoud not go to the bottom of the bike.
well, good afternoon guys, It is a glorious day in the ozarks, I may feel and look stupid from not having hose hooked up, by the way ty waltr, the hose going to other carb was hidden down beside the frame everything is hooked up no leaks, just some minor tune up work and my sweetheart will be in the wind with me, I do appreciate all of you that helped, offered suggestions, and everything else, thanks to you guys, I got my baby back baby back baby back......sry. well you all have a wonderful day.
No need to apologize. I burned out an entire battery cause my killswitch was "on" once... sometimes the simple things are the ones that get ya!
Good news is that you don't need to pull the carbs now
