Speedo dead

I have this 97 VTR1000F.
The Speedo is not working.
Needle stuck at 0 km/hr and Odometer - - - - -

What could be the problem?

speedo sensor cable

It runs from back of engine nr. rear CCT to the connection into the loom nr the battery by the subframe.
