Signals take forever to work in morning.... partial fix!

Sometime around when I replaced the r/r and front signals, the signals started acting up, and took about 30-60 seconds to start working on cold mornings. After that, they work normally.

They worked fine when the bike was not running, go figure.

I put some dielectric bulb grease on the wire connections to the blinker module (inside right rear plastic), and on the wires feeding all four signals, and on the front bulbs. I couldn't get the rear bulbs out.

My blinkers now only take about 5 seconds to start on cold mornings.

My guess is the aftermarket bulbs have different types of metals on the connectors and at the bulb. Humidity in the air causes a small amount of surface corrosion to build up between the metals. The grease prevents this.

Good to know. I've been dealing with the same problem (there's at least one other thread regarding it) and cleaning the bulbs and sockets is my next step. I want to get rid of all delay.

When R/R fails it sometimes heats up a bunch of stuff like bulb sockets and multi prong connectors all over the bike. A new winker relay didnt fix one of mine, and I took all the plugs apart and cleaned them with 'De-Oxit". Behold, it wasnt one of the many plugs, it was the left handle-switch assy.
Dis-assembled and De-Oxit'ed everything, and it worked like new.

If you havent cleaned and inspected the left handle-switch, thats where your remaining 5 seconds is hiding.

Yeah, I did that one. I've still got a 10 sec delay. My bike's apart at the moment, but I'll get to the bulbs once the other stuff is back together.
