Yeah, it took me a bit to get the hang of it. Turn the key, while holding the key turned, with your other hand, pull straight up on the very back a bit to create a gap between the seat and the body and slip your fingers into the gap holding the seat up about 1/2" or so. Release the key and slip the other hands fingers into the gap, and gripping the back of the seat with both hands, give a sharp pull backwards to disengage the hooks, and the seat will pop backwards and come loose. I can do it very quickly now.

Good luck.

I've found if you pop the lock with the key first, then grab the back of the seat with one hand and kind of push or smack the seat rearward where it rises between where the driver/passenger sit. As great as Honda usuall is on fit, finish, and fucntionality I'm really not sure what they were thinking when they designed this seat attachment.

No hitting needed if you follow my steps. Looks better in the public eye too, lol, to not be pounding on your seat.

Well not so much hitting or punding on it. Just that little step up gives you a nice place to push.

Best to just remove at least one of the seat hooks, if not both. It still works fine without them, and its not as much of a pain in the ***. If you use the helmet lock on the seat, I'd leave one on so no-one can force the seat up and steal your lid.

A fella local to me from a UK VTR Firestorm showed me that trick. After a good 15 minutes with him swearing and cursing trying to get the seat off before that I'm really glad I did it!

No idea why Honda designed it like that, never struggled before with a bike seat
