Rubber Seal on tank cap

Rubber Seal on tank cap
Hi Guys!
It seems that my tank loses fuel thru the overflow pipe, as fuel escapes past the rubber that is supposed to seal on the tank opening.
Whether the tank is full or half, it seems that any fuel "sloshing" around, and hitting the cap, gets past the rubber seal and flows away via the overflow pipe.
Anyone know of a quick fix, or a replacement rubber for the cap?
Regards,
Gerrit

Gerritdlr: where does it run down after the overflow? i have stains on the right side of the frame right at the bottom right of the tank (from gas leaking out somewhere and picking up the rattle can black that the po sprayed all over the bike including the underside of the tank)
thanks!
my rubber on top is all dry rotted also...possibly my problem too!

Hi Andy, with the tank cap open, you will notice a hole in the recess in the tank (On the left of the cap). This hole is the start of a pipe that runs somewhere inside the tank, towards the petcock at the back of the tank...at that point this pipe has a "nipple" that has a rubber tube attached, and this tube runs down, to dispose of overflow fuel.
I have had many hours withthe tank, as the bike would die after ridinga few minutes, due to pressure build-up, as the "breather pipe" was blocked. The breather also has a "nipple" next to the petcock with a rubber tube attached that runs downwards.
Hope this helps, Gerrit
