Not starting

Hi there! New to the group and I just got a 2002 honda vtr1000 superhawk she started when I checked her out and the seller kept his battery. The key switch wasn't hooked up and the starter button was on plenty of gas and she's in neutral. She just won't do anything. Brand new battery but won't even make any noise at all.

Side stand switch?

Not sure what you mean by, "key switch wasn't hooked up"?

Haven't checked the stand switch. The ignition switch. Previous owner hooked up a rudimentary ignition switch because the key switch was broken. No it wasn't stolen. Already ran the vin.

So, did you replace the ignition switch or still using what previous owner cobbled together? Is any new switch confirmed good or, did something go wrong with the cobble job? Does the brand new battery have a charge? When you switch it on, do the lights come on, etc., or is it completely dead?

I have a new ignition on order. Bike was stripped down no lights. Just basics to run and ride. Still has the gauges. They don't light up. I'm going to redo most of the electronics. Just and absolute mess of wires up front.

I have had some funny people hit my kill switch...while the bike was sitting in a parking lot. I have accidentally done it more than once, especially when transporting. Good call.
