My slow directional flash fix

Hey guys,
After suffering from the same symptoms of have a slow response of my directional activating once I push my button, as many of you have; I replaced the electrical switch located behind the right rear fairing. This had minimal if any effect on fixing the problem.
What I ended up doing was completely disassembling the left hand switch controls on the bike. I took the control completely apart (everything was removed, even the small springs and bb sized contacts within the unit). I proceeded to use q-tips soaked in brake cleaner as well as tooth picks to remove all of the dielectric grease that had been in there since the bike was built. I made sure every bit of the old grease was removed before I reassembled the unit.
I added just a dab of new dielectric grease to a few key spots and reassembled the unit.
It now works like a champ, no delay what so ever when I push the directional button.

Thought I would pass it along.....

I believe that is the recommended solution from the forum experts as well. Glad it worked out for you.

I did the same thing this weekend. Sort of.
I Took the tail apart to find the R/R was bad, and while I had it apart, i took the controls apart, and cleaned out the old grease, and did not put any back in there.
After reading your post, it makes me think I should have put some grease in, and cleaned better. The only reason I didn't, is because everything started moving much better after I cleaned it.

Hey VTRwillie, when you replaced the signal relay, did you get a factory OEM replacement? Or an aftermarket digital one for led's?

I bought the factory replacement from Ron Ayers (I think).

You should put some grease in there to protect against corrosion

In my experience, they only slow down under 30* so you may not see the issue unless it cools down.
