Mosfet R/R problem ?

hi guys i am having some issues with my R/R
i have a 2005 R1 Regulator... a mosfet one and i think its not doing its job
because sometimes at idle with lights on mostly with blinker on it just cuts out and then it seems like the battery is dead and it wont start up right away gotta turn the lights of and wait 30 sec or langer but the battery has enough volts on the meter it charges good to so it only can be the R/R ?
i have let it idle from 900 to 1200 wich improved it a bit.

Did this problem just start or has it been since the R/R replacement?
Ground issue?

Maybe I misunderstand you, but idle should never be less than around 1150~1200 RPM for the oil pump to supply sufficient lubrication.

Charge battery, let set overnight, what is the bat voltage?
Then connect positive lead, using a Ohmmeter, what is the amp draw with key off (test between battery neg terminal and neg lead)?
Connect neg lead
Key on /engine off what is the voltage?
Key on / engine running at idle (1000-1200 rpm) what is the voltage at battery terminals?
Key on / engine running at 2500rpm what is the voltage at battery terminals?
When you installed the R/R did you reuse the stock wiring harness charging leads or make your own from the R/R to battery?

I had the same problem and it ended up being a dead cell on the battery, they do that some how. Check the voltage like E.Marquez said and you should know what the problem is...

if an invidual cell drops below a certain voltage its pretty much dead
but i dont think its the problem but gonna check each cell with voltmeter

trying a different battery see if its the battery

@ marquez
gonna check asap

i did reuse the stock wiring harness to the R/R

I had the very same problem. Could be a cell on its last straw.. lol A simple volt measurement will tell you the problem or at least point you in the right direction.. Good luck..

As before - check charging system with multimeter.

Is your R/R marked FH or SH? as a MOSFET FH R/R will need some rejigging of loom connectors.

i do have a FH R/R with spade connectors soldert on and shrink tube
couldnt find a proper connector kit for my R/R
havent had the chance to ride but i know that the volt usually is around 15 volts with lights off and 14,5 to 14,8 volt with lights on but when its cold or it dies on me the volt does go down as normal but maybe its was to low idle or the R/R and all that starting and low volt may damaged one off the cells

Probably worth slapping a new battery in and maintaining it over winter, even the 'maintenance free' ones.

A decent battery retailer should be able to load test the battery for no cost. But I always leave mine on a battery tender if parked more than a day.

I dont have a regular battery, i run my own made A123 8 cell battery
some times 1 cell is a bit off from the factory that happens but i my volts are good and i am still thinking is the R/R also because a R1 has a slight higher idle setting and mine was set at 900 wich explained above is not good for other reasons
but with higher idle setting it seems better but the other i just died on me not even on full draw (blinkers + brake & regular light) only low beam so it got me worried abit again is it possible the RR does act up sometimes or its all or nothing type thing ?
