i get a rattlin knockin noise when i 1st take off in chain area, but its gone later in the 1st gear, no rattlin knockin noise @ decel, only @ 1st take off til about 8mph.

I dont know if my pipes hide the noise , i doubt it cause i can feel the noise with bumps near my left foot.

i have not checked for chain marks on swing arm or wear marks for chain wear [will do 2day] but is this a sign of loose or bad chain ?

i dont know how many miles on this chain. but 20k on bike.

sooooo, assuming, after i check,the chain's in specs and not to loose with no chain marks on swing arm what is the probl, and could this damage the stuff near that front sprocket.

Sounds like your chain is too loose and with ~20K needs to be replaced. Experience the same thing with an old bike of mine that wasn't maintained properly.
