How to change an air filter - for end user!

I am planning to change the air filter for my 98VTR with 14,000kms on it.

I am wondering if I can do it myself (with zero mechanical knowlede - almost). I have the bike tool kit !! So - why not give it a try.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

8mm socket and ratchet and a phillips screwdriver are all you need. Will probably help to have something like a 1x2 piece of wood to hold up the tank. Two bolts on the front of the tank come out, tilt the tank up, remove the 12 or so screws on the airbox top. Careful putting the lid back on. The rubber snorkel must be inserted just right and the lid needs to seat flat all the way around.
