Hesitation and skipping problem

Hey guys just got a 99 super hawk fixed up and back on the road for the most part. bike runs great except at very slight steady throtle it will skip. If I give it more throttle it's smooths back out. Like I said it only happens at slight steady throtle when putting around the city. The bike does have slip on aftermarket muflers. Seems like a fuel issue to me but not quite sure what to try first?

These bikes usually require rejetting with aftermarket exhaust. Shimming the needles may help if the problem is only happening off-idle or part throttle. It requires removing the carbs, but is not too difficult.

Do a search on needle shim. There are a number of threads.

Balancing the carbs can't hurt, either.

Haha so finally got around to pulling the carbs the other day. I had bought some shims but found out someone had aleady but a jet kit in it with adjustable needles. So raised one needle up a notch, then went to do the other and found that one already in the notch I had just adjusted the other needle too.... They had set the needles up diferent! So left that one alone, put it all back together and bike runs beautiful now. Some people really need to pay more attention to their work. Thanks for your help guys I really appriciate it.
