Help! Mystery o-ring gasket

Hey guys, I'm putting the front cylinder head back on my bike after having a shop do some valve work. I put the head in a box when I took it to the shop, and now, pulling it out of the box, I've found an o-ring gasket that looks familiar, but damned if I can remember, or figure out, where it goes. I've looked at the manual, and at the micro fiche on Ron Ayers ... but I can't see where it goes.

Is there an o-ring between the head and the block? (I don't think so.) Is there an o-ring between the head and the valve cover?

The gasket is about a 1/2", outer diameter.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, there's an o-ring on the center pin/tube between the head and the valve cover.

Thanks! I looked but I didn't see a recessed area for the ring to sit in. I'll check that out again.

Thanks again for the prompt response.

It's not recessed it just goes around the metal tube.

Yeah, that's what I discovered, that I had been looking for the wrong thing. The o-ring in the middle is kind of a continuation of the perimeter gasket.

Yeah, it's sort of a dowel to help locate the valve cover. Oring keeps it sealed.
