HELP!!! Ignition Switch won't Turn and It's SUNNY Outside

I used the key to remove the seat on my SH in order to replace it with a Sergent I obtained on this forum. I replaced the key in the Ign. and now it won't turn. I can push down and feel the spring but cannot get it to turn. The forks are not locked. Any ideas?

I removed upper tripple tree then the ign. switch. Opened up the switch, removed the tumbler and cleaned then lubed it. Apparently it was gummed up and the pins oin the tumbler were not moving well. Refitted and all is good.

Little late now, but i usually squirt WD40 into all my car and bike locks a couple times a year.

This wonderful thing happened to me & I had to take a cab home to get my van I carry my vtr home. You should buy a set of security torx drives (15 clams) and remove the top triple, remove the 3 torx screws & you can start the bike with a stubby screwdriver until your new lockset comes that you bought on ebay ( I got the 3 lock set for 99bucks). Any deviation from this plan will result in great unhappiness as even if you fix the tumblers now with wd40, I promise they are dying and you will be stranded far from anywhere on your first date with mrs right with a rainstorm fast approaching( really ) I am not wrong about this...SmokinJoe

Oh yeah, the security torx has a post in the middle to prevent a neophite with a reg torx from robbing you. Zip tie the small ignition switch in the fairing where only you know where it is & carry the stubby flathead screwdriver with you- some of us here in NYC leave it that way all summer since it absolutely confounds would-be hot wire guys with hammers & screwdrivers.

Harbor freight sell the security bit sets. I think hollow tip Torx is what you're looking for. $7.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91310

Sounds like Smokinjoe had a bad experience.
Thanks for the advice. I'll start gathering parts.
