has anyone tried this? (suspension mods)

Some have done one or more of these things but I don't think that the suspension wizards on this forum, JamieDaugherty and Hawkrider, take the same approach. Of course, they can speak for themselves.

Leave the damper rod alone, no grinding... That's just stupid, the stock is more than enough...
As for the rest, it's just installation of racetech stuff, and that's tried by many and works well as a DIY project...

Also when you find his page on airbox mods, make sure you read all of them.... the last page is important..... as that is where he says he couldn't make it work and put it back to stock......
Other than that I agree with what Tweety has said.

Grinding the taper on the needle doesn't really hurt anything. It doesn't necessarily help a great deal either. Providing you have everything setup really well it might be helpful for fine tuning.
DO NOT drill the extra hole in the cartridge tube. That's exactly the opposite of what you want. The stock valving has too much free bleed built into it already, adding another hole will just make matters worse.
The rest of that page is pretty much textbook stuff that doesn't really amount to much. Nothing to get exicted about anyway.
