Yeah, except that if the bike has no static sag with the rider off and the right sag with the rider on it, then the spring rate is too soft. There should be some unladen (bike weight only) sag.

I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to be the world's leading authority on this stuff, because I certainly am not. I have a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals, I think about this stuff obsessively and I love talking about it.
I hope that it gives some insight to people that want to know more. I know I'm always looking for more understanding, trying stuff and then taking it out and testing it. Or I was before I got my bike perfect, then broke it in half.
I'm thinking real hard about putting her back together and keeping her forever. The Super Hawk is bound to be a classic. There is nothing else like it. I wish I hadn't sold that shock and my HRC ignition...
