gearbox whine

This is not a gear selection or rpm based issue. At about 50 to 60 mph indicated I have a subtle but I can hear, whine. Irregardless of 4th 5th or 6th gear selection..doesnt seem to be load related..recently changed out to mobil vtwin syn 20/50 and it quieted somewhat..I believe that the gears in vtrs are a straght cut gear and and whine is somewhat common..Chain is new and well adjusted and not too tight...I have to admit I usually ride with earplugs in..and lately for some reason I dont..could be its been there all along..the above symptoms lead me to believe its an output side issue and only occurs in about a 10 mph range. other than that the gearbox is sweet...For all you members who have a lot of background with the hawk is this common? feedback appreciated!

Mine also has that good old Honda whine to it. But I could only hear it with the stock cans. Can't hear it anymore with the baffles knocked out of them.

Get a louder exhaust.

Just kidding. These machines have a distinctive, non exhaust related "whine". The general rule is to ride it and if it gets worse, then worry about it. Have you ever heard a Ducati with a dry clutch...it sounds like the rods are ready to punch through the cases at idle.
