gas leak! (not via tank)

Alrighty, so here's the story.

I stored my bike this past winter and when I put the VTR away with some other toys it ran, from what I could tell, almost perfectly. I did put fuel stabilizer in with a fresh tank of gas but at the time did not realize I could empty the float boals easily so I left them full. I went to go take it out of storage yesterday and it started right up! wahoo!

It idled at a slightly lower RPM than I remember (800 rpm sound low? my other bike is around 1500 or so but I remember the superhawk being lower than that) and I had to help it run by opening the throttle just a little.

My girlfriend was with me and we were doing the check over to make sure everything looked ok before I considered riding it. The only thing we noticed is... it dumped about a 1/4 cup of fuel in perhaps... 1 minute of idling? It was turned off as soon as it was identified as gasoline.

So today we went back to the storage place because we had more time on our hands and dismantled the bike. The fuel leek appears to be coming from tube #41 based on where the gas left residue and observation on a second careful start. (NOTE: 41 is two tubes, not sure which one it is coming from. One goes to each carb. They are just tied together with essentially a zip tie in between the carbs).

I was reading some other posts with mentions of a float getting stuck. Is this a line that would expect to dump gasoline if a float was stuck? would you folks happen to know what this would be if this isn't likely to be the case?

Thanks for any advice or ideas!

That's the float bowl vent. You've either got a stuck float or a stuck needle. Either way it will probably require cleaning the carbs.

Some times when that happened on older cars, you could unstick the float or needle by tapping on the side of the carb.

When it sticks fuel just keeps entering the carbs faster than it can be used (unless you ride real fast) and it floods out the vent. Possibility of fire so don't ride it.
