Gamble on the CCT'S?
Getting ready to trailer my '04 Hawk to the smokies and enjoy a bit of mountain curves. Bike has about 12K. Been reading all the posts on CCT failures and need some feedback. With only 12K on the bike is it worth the gamble to trust the factory CCT's or should I go for manual CCT's now. Leaving on 5/17, pressed for time.

If you searched for reports on the numerous CCT failures, then you should have seen it happening on bikes with milage as low as 7K, and then some owners have racked up +65K without any problems.
So how lucky do you feel? Searching for clack turns up quite a few cases inc. this one with 7800 miles https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ck-boom-26943/ Busted Cam chain blown valves into cylinder... www.vtr1000.org • View topic - Busted Cam chain blown valves into cylinder... If you're doing a lot of snapping the throttle closed you may not want to gamble......

Thanks Wicky and RWhisen. You talked me into it. Ordered a set of Manual CCT's. Be installing them before I leave. Going to install a jet kit anyway, might as well do it all at once

There is a better way than most jet kits......check the tech section ;)
