Distilled water, or ??

I have usually used distilled water for coolant (mixed with Redline), but I'm wondering what you all use. Can I get away with filtered tap?

I wouldn't do it. Distilled is cheap and widely available. I'm pretty sure it's documented in the Owner's or Service manuals only to do it case of emergency and then replace it ASAP.

with anti-freeze i use tap / filtered water.

tim

imo - distilled is listed because the manufacturer can't list out water quality as their car/bike will be used all over the world. the US has clean tap water & if it's filtered thats even better. if you have REALLY hard water then i'd buy distilled. using anti-freeze & flushing at regular intervals should keep the radiator clean.

Beer, ****, ginger ale, it all works.
Some are more corrosive than others.
Some freeze at not so low temperatures.

I used distilled.

It will leach more metals out of your system than tap, but it's better than the minerals in the tap water IMO.

Any water you put in there is be full of ions/dissolved solids eventually and start rusting the system out like a battery. The distilled water just takes longer to get there. Soft water is really bad because it's completely saturated with sodium ions.

since you can't easily analyze the water to determine its composition, I use nothing but distilled water in batteries and radiators. I keep a couple gallons on hand for whenever/whatever.
