Did you do something suddenly that would require bleeding the clutch? You don't sound too sure Is the lever dead/soft or does it feel proper-as it would if were bled completely? Did this happen suddenly or over time or did you take stuff apart or what? When was the last time the bike ran properly and what happened in between then and now? A little more info could probably help folks help you better.

what about the side stand switch, if it dies when you put it in gear but does not lurch forward its the side stand switch.

Sounds like the side stand is down to me or the switch like cornandp stated.

Yeah, I do occasionally forget to lift the stand in the early am. At least I don't find out on that first lefthand sweeper just down the road lol

Years ago I did it on a friends 600 Ninja. Big fast sweeping left. Right off the side of the road. You can take away the switch on my bike because I will NEVER forget that again.

Sometimes the master cylinder won't release fluid back to the resevoire because the return valve is absolutely tiny and is easily clogged by debris and corrosion. If there was/is old fluid in there it could be that this is the problem. An easy test/ temporary solution is to bleed a tiny bit of fluid from the slave cylinder, this will allow the excess pressure to dissapate and the clutch to engage. I rode for 2 weeks with a 10 mm wrench in my pocket

More info please. You mentioned clutch so I assume that it just does not shut off-quit running.Does it lurch ahead and stall?Have you done anything to the bike or did this just happen. If it did just happen-try this.Key OFF,clutch squeezed,1st gear engaged, rock bike back and forth and see if you can get the bike to move.If it breaks loose and moves it could be the said stuck clutch plate syndrome---it happens.Try your normal I want to go for a ride thing. If you can't get it to move and your clutch lever is real spongy, you have a problem.Help us help you---More Info.Please--One more thing.Tell us what you find.

Yeah it only takes once to add "Side Stand Up" to your starting routine......
It's the step before "turn ignition on" for me as I had pretty much the same experience....

I had the same problem, you gotta bleed it at the slave cylinder as well as the master. pull the clutch with your left hand, loosen the nut at the end of the chamber where the line comes out, you should get a puff of bubbles, tighten, rinse and repeat. bobs ur uncle
