Thumbs down clutch going bad...? i hope

ok so a few days ago i noticed a clunk sound when i let my clutch out when taking off. it happend when about 3/4 out. it was only happening in first gear. now a few days later i makes 2 - 3 clunks and happens in 2 gear when leting the clutch out after my shift. I suspected the clutch was going bad, but its not slipping when in the high r's. Im thinking maybe some broken plates in there>? any one else ever had a simular prob? what did it turn out to be? I dont have a gasket right now or else i would look in there.

Never had it happen, but it could be broken frictions or notching on the hub and/or basket keeping the frictions and steels from sliding smoothly (popping in/out of place). I'd pull the cover and take a look as soon as you can. Don't forget to drain the oil first.

Possibly the cush bushings in the rear wheel? Pretty easy to check before tearing in to your clutch assembly....

Just a thought...

You can have a peek trough the oil cap, you can see if the drum is notched.

Give the clutch lever a few slow pulls while looking down into the fill hole. See if you can see any binding.
