Clutch cover wont mount after chain change

Hi guys I have been reading for awhile but never have posted and have learned a lot since getting my hawk last year. I was changing the chain this weekend and unfortunately forgot to zip tie the clutch lever. When trying to put the clutch cover back on the the clutch lifter rod seems to not go in all the way. I bleed the lines and opened up the slave cylinder and cleaned the piston. Still cant get the clutch cover to bolt in the rod sticks out to far. Any ideas on what else I should try?

Ensure the actuating rod is fully seated on the clutch side. In my experience, you have to push the slave cylinder almost all the way in if you want it to mount straight up. Otherwise, if you can get one or two cover bolts started then it will push the slave cylinder in as you tighten the cover.
