Is this ok to fit for a 100hp motorbike, or are they a bit dodgy?
My gut feeling is that a chain under that much tension and compression, really shouldn't have a clip that can cn 102 link. I was expecting the final link to be one that I must rivet with a tool that I plan to borrow.
Instead, there is a clip, the same as I'd expect on my sons BMX.ome flying off.
What are peoples thoughts please? Im assuming that I can order a rivet link? Any links (pardon the pun) to any would be appreciated.
Clip style masters are fine (my 150 horse Duc had one on it when I bought it). I'd much rather have the rivet style and I'm sure you can replace that clip link with one. See if the brand offers it. If not, you could take it to a local motorcycle shop and see if they stock one that will fit in it.

Be certain to get the same manufacture link. I recently replaced my chain. Old chain was an RK, new chain is DID. There is a slight difference in size between the two. I really don't think it's a good idea to mix parts.

This.

I like riveted but it gets debated all over the internet like other things. I think the most important thing is to do some reading/homework and decide which you prefer, then make sure the job is done correctly with the correct parts.

I saw a chain come apart back in the day on a friend's Superhawk. Clean shaved the side of his engine cover off. How it didn't take part of his leg with it I have no idea.

If you do use the clip-on link, keep in mind what effect a random object striking it might have upon the clip. Better to orient the clip so that anything that might hit it, will not knock it in the "unclip' direction. Yikes.
