Carb Question (yes I used search)

On cell: getting ready for snowboarding weekend

Bike hesitates in low rpm. Everywhere else seems okay, but I have no basis for comparison. Okay to me may be crap in reality. ( never wheelie or wot ( I r squid))

(While cleaning carbs + TPS) Dyno Jet kit 3 holes 190 front 195 back (PO,PO, did all mods, I don't have other mains, PO doesn't know what PO,PO did to bike at all) rear 48 pilot (haven't checked needle but that is of lesser concern atm) + Indigo full exhaust + K&N

I have a new OEM air filter waiting but on installation bike performed worse. Like it was starving for air when warmed up.

I've read the carb setup guide by Hawk, based on full length exhaust with OEM filter. 175 (Is this stock??) main front and back, 48 pilot with stock needles and recommended fuel mixture. Will this *likely improve low end response 900-3000 rpm? If no, which additional pilot / main / needle position would you recommend? (Lots of stop and go traffic, occasional freeway.)

(typing on a cell is soooo annoying)

Sounds like you are way rich. What do the plugs look like and what kind if fuel mileage do you get?

Stock is 175 front\ 178 rear.

As for my opinion on set up, I think I covered that already

Haven't checked plugs (afraid of shock..ill look on Sunday!)...I can't accurately state fuel economy but this is my fun toy so it doesn't matter...(it's bad)

I want to order everything on Sunday when I get back...

All this snow and my mind is on the bike......

Well if you are thinking about converting your set up the lest expensive way would be to get a set of mains (175\178) and a set of stock slide springs.

Then check to make sure you have 48 pilots front and rear.

You can reuse the DJ needles.

So once you have the needed bits, pull the slides and plug (epoxy works fine) the extra lift holes. Then plug one of the stock holes on the front slide.

Install the stock mains.

Set the DJ needles on the second clip (from the blunt end) with 1 shim on the front needle & 2 shims on the rear needle.

Set the pilots screws at approx. 2 1\2 turns out (with the rear open 1\8-1\4 turns more than the front) sync the carbs and see how it runs and tune from there.

Thank you Hawk!

I was also going to adjust the TPS, install the MCCT and PAIR removal. However if something does go wrong, I'll have to go over everything.

I'll stay patient and do this one step at a time.....CA weather is getting warmer.....then again we can ride here anytime of the year!
