BMC filter.....kind of...

Hi, when i bought my bike the seller told the it has BMC filter. A couple of days ago i opened the air box to do the TPS mod and i found this

I think it is a BMC filter from another bike that is fitted on the original filter plastic plate.
My question is - does BMC filter haw the plastic part that stops the air or i should cut it out(as some people do on a OEM filters)?
Plus, do i need some rejetting for the current set up - i got open cans and fuel pump....and as i know i don`t have jet kit installed.
I am thinkig of shimm mod + lond front air funney ....will this be enough fot the BMC filter and the cans?
I can`t put it on a Dyno so it will be hard to tune the carbs perfectly.

No, BMC doesn´t have this plastic ridge. You don´t need dyno to tune the carbs perfectly, just feel how it goes.

i see it is quite the same as mine, except the ridge

i do not haw much time to ride, so no time for thest rides and tuning also
if i go without the ridge(or as it is now) should i just go up with the mains/pilots or have to get a jet kit

Are you currently having a problem with you bike running? If not, I would say leave well enough alone unless you are trying to eek out a couple more HP. These bikes are known for being finiky with non-OEM filters, and the OEM filters flow more than enough air. Read the many threads on the site about that before you start hacking a working setup.

Ha- that's not a BMC, that's an OEM modified with a Fram reusable filter. I'm not sure if I saw it on this forum or one of the others but at one point people were experimenting with cutting out the papefnelement on an poem and glueing in a Fram reusable element.
One key point was that the plastic dam could be left in place. Haven't seen this in a while think it was early 2000s this was being discussed

more likely to be BMC from onother model - you see the red plastic cutout around the filter, it is not just the filter element pun on the OEM plastic

You might try an OEM filter then. There have been cases where going back to stock filter fixed all or mist of the running problems.
