Blinkers and horn...

Hi all,

Anyone had problems with blinker and horn? Today I noticed that none of my blinkers or the horn are working all of a sudden. They were working earlier today and the next time I went to turn i noticed they weren't working at all. The horn als has gotten lazy and decided not to work so I figured it is probably related being that they are all in the same switch. Headlight still works though so I guess the first step would be to maybe check for fuses or pull the switch apart?

Yeah, check fuses first but it's probably a dirty switchgear assembly. Probably got lots of corrosion in there. The "lazy horn" makes me think this. Get some electrical cleaner and dielectric grease to prevent this from reoccurring.

blinker problem

after installing the lp flush mounts (roughly one month) on the front , now occasionally at cruising speed my blinker indicator lights on the gauge cluster will glow. no kind of consistancy or pattern just out of nowhere it looks like both my blinkers are on .and if i look down at the actual indicators on the fairings they are not illuminated?

any ideas?

did not intend to thread jack.

blinkers and horn

no worries,

I get similar issues. I changed the fuse (it was blown) and everything started working again. Going to disassemble the switch and clean it all out but I am thinking there may be a loose wire or a short somewhere. It only seems to happen on the left blinker but when it is on sometimes it will be dim (both the blinker and the light on the cluster) and sometimes it will flash irregularly or cut out. Could the switch cause all of this or should I be looking for a grounded out wire somewhere. Flush mount blinkers up front and I am not sure about the tail end, i know they have been modded to some degree.

yeah mine will be dim too but then sometimes thay get real bright and also the highbeam indicator will flicker or the gas light but it doesnt seem to affect the actual units just the display lights? I think its a loose wire , now the trick is to find it

Most likely an intermittent short in one of the turn signal wires - or - inside a turn signal housing. I had exactly the same problem last year and it turned out to be an occasional short in the right rear signal socket (aftermarket job). After reinsulating a short span of wire all is good.
I also disassembled the signal switch - cleaning it up did help the switch work more smoothly but the electrics were fine.
